Abstract:Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), a kind of relatively rare gastrointestinal tumor, is the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. GIST originated from gastrointestinal muscularis propria and muscularis mucosae and can occur in any part of the digestive tract. GIST is not sensitive to radiotherapy or chemotherapy and complete surgical resection of GIST is considered to have curative effect. However, in recent years, endoscopic resection is increasingly accepted and has been applied to treat the local GIST without lymph node metastasis, owning to the techniques of endoscopic resection is safer, more effective, faster recovery with satisfactory surgical outcome.
