Reasonable option and key techniques for radical excision of proximal gastric cancer through abdominal approach
Abstract:It is important to choose appropriate surgical approach to improve the outcomes of patients. Currently it is accepted that the main problems of proximate gastrectomy are focus on the radical degree and postoperative dysfunctions. The indications of proximate gastrectomy are not as broad as that of total gastrectomy which can influence the physiological and psychological outcomes of patients because of the excision of total stomach. Therefore the choosing of surgical approach and reconstruction following operation are important especially. Many different types of reconstruction have been proposed, but there is no definitive conclusion on which procedure is the best. Therefore, surgeons should adopt reasonable surgical procedures for treatment of patients with proximal gastric cancers based on the specific conditions of them to improve the survival and quality of life.
