Early goal-directed therapy in severe sepsis: need more compliance
YAN Jing
Abstract:Recent evidence suggests that the use of early goal-directed therapy(EGDT)in the emergency department care of patients with severe sepsis and septic shock results in a substantial mortality benefit. However, implementation of EGDT faces several barriers and is not standard yet.Several researches have improved that implementation of a standardized hospital order set is associated with greater likelihood of shorter hospital stay and lower 28-day mortality compared to historical controls. It will discuss the steps taken at all institution to create, implement, measure EGDT in the emergency department setting,ICU and normal departments, resulting in significant mortality benefit, including detecting sepsis timely, term incorporation, training the doctors, etc.
