Prognostic factors of patients with synchronous liver metastasis from colon cancer that treated with simultaneous resection
Abstract:Objective To evaluate the prognostic factors of the patients with synchronous liver metastasis from colon cancer that received simultaneous resection. Methods The prognosis of 59 patients with synchronous liver metastasis from colon cancer that received simultaneous resection from January 2002 to June 2008 in Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital were analyzed, retrospectively. Results The age, sex, CEA level, the portal vein chemotherapy with local chemotherapy pump, the size ,number and location of metastatic lesion affect the survival time of these patients. Conclusion The size, location and number of the metastatic lesion, CEA level affect the prognosis, but are not controllable factors, but intraoperative and postoperative chemotherapy through the pump within the portal vein is the controllable factor. The patients who received the controllable factor can have better prognosis than those who did not received (P=0.0076).
