Abstract:With the accelerated aging of the population in China, osteoporosis has emerged as a critical public health problem that significantly threatens the health of the elderly.Vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency is widespread in the general population, particularly among postmenopausal women and older adults, thereby increasing the risk of osteoporosis.Adequate vitamin D status is fundamental for maintaining bone health. However,as its primary source relies on synthesis in the skin upon sun exposure, insufficient sun exposure often restricts vitamin D production, making vitamin D deficiency highly prevalent.Consequently, critical questions requiring urgent resolution in clinical practice arise:What dosage of vitamin D is required for patients with osteoporosis to maintain skeletal health? How should vitamin D be supplemented scientifically as fundamental therapy for osteoporosis? This review focuses on vitamin D supplementation strategies for patients with osteoporosis, including suitable dosage and supplementation regimens,to ensure the therapeutic efficacy of anti-osteoporosis medications.
