A study based on a contact-free vibratory sign monitor for the detection of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea

Abstract：Objective To assess the application value of a contact-free vibratory sign monitor placed under the mattress to detect obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in adults.Methods The clinical data of ninety patients with snoring who visited Sleep Center of China-Japan Friendship Hospital between October 2020 and April 2021 were analyzed,and they were monitored by polysomnography(PSG)and contact-free vibratory sign monitor.Spearman correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman method were used to evaluate the consistency between the respiratory event index(REI)generated by the contact-free vibratory sign monitor and the apnea-hypopnea index(AHI)generated by PSG.The sensitivity and specificity of the contact-free vibratory sign monitor in the diagnosis of OSA were evaluated,and the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of the contact-free vibratory sign monitor for OSA in adults.Results The total respiratory events and total sleep time obtained by contact-free vibratory sign monitor had a high accuracy,and there is no statistically significant difference compared to the corresponding data obtained by PSG devices;REI has a high correlation and consistency with PSG-AHI,with a correlation coefficient of r=0.83,P＜0.01,and an average difference of-4.34(95％CI-38.42-29.74)times/h;The sensitivity and specificity of contact-free vibratory sign monitor REI ≥ 22.7 times/h as the diagnostic threshold for moderate to severe OSA were 90.2％and 79.3％,respectively.Conclusion The REI obtained by this contact-free vibratory sign monitor is consistent with PSG-AHI and can be used for screening patients with moderate to severe OSA.
