Study on the relationship between ankylosing spondylitis and periodontitis

Abstract：Objective To understand the relationship between ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and periodontitis.Methods The periodontal parameters,clinical data and clinical indicators of 100 cases of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (66 patients with ankylosing spondylitis with periodontitis,pure ankylosing spondylitis 34 cases)and 45 cases of patients with simple periodontitis were collected from December 2014 to May 2016,and furtherly analyzing related data.Results The c-reactive protein,erythrocyte sedimentation rate and BASDAI score in ankylosing spondylitis with periodontitis were higher than that in ankylosing spondylitis,and the ESR difference was statistically significant.There were differences in periodontal parameters between HLA-b27 positive group with ankylosing spondylitis and HLA-b27 negative group withankylosing spondylitis,but there was no statistical significance.There were differences in periodontal parameter detection depth (PD),attachment loss (CAL),CRP and ESR between periodontitis+ AS group and periodontitis-AS group,and PD,CAL and ESR were statistically significant.Conclusion Periodontitismay have a certain role in promoting the disease of ankylosing spondylitis;ankylosing spondylitis may also have a certain effect in promoting periodontitis.
