Understanding 2017 global initiative for asthma

Abstract：The most important change of global initiative for asthma (GINA) 2017 is that the word'syndrome'has been removed from the previous term'asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) overlap syndrome (ACOS)'.This consensus-based description of asthma-COPD overlap is intended to encourage clinicians to further study the disease characteristics,underlying mechanisms and treatments for this common clinical problem.FENO is not an indicator for diagnosis,but it is an independent predictor of exacerbations.Other changes includes the frequency of lung function,SLIT as an add-on option and the complement of asthma in children.
