Abstract:Objective To analyze the difference on the right ventricular volumes and ejection fraction between healthy adults and patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy measured by single-beat real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (sRT-3DE).Methods The subjects of this study included 50 healthy adults(control group),and 24 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(cardiomyopathy group). The sRT-3DE was chosen to measure their right ventricular volumes and ejection fraction. The parameters of right ventricular volumes were standardized by body surface area (BSA) to calculate the ranges of their normal value. Results Before standardizing, healthy adults had larger the right ventricular end diastolic volume (RVEDV),right ventricular end systolic volume (RVESV)and right ventricular stroke volume (RVSV)than the cardiomyopathy, with significant difference(P<0.01),but patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy had larger right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF)right ventricular volumes compared with healthy adults,(P <0.05).After standardizing by BSA,the RVEDV,RVESV and RVSV in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy were significantly lower than those in healthy adults (P < 0.01).Conclusions Compared with the normal heart, right ventricular function in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is different.
