Abstract:Objective To determine levels of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 1 (TRAF1) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, and to assess the relationship of TRAF1 levels with autoantibodies, disease activity and CD40.Methods Serum was obtained from 79 RA patients and from 50 healthy individuals.Levels of TRAF 1 and CD40 were measured by enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA) and the relationship between them was analyzed. Results We fotmd that serum level ofTRAF1 andCD40 was (35.88±51.22)ng/L and (72.70±70.56)ng/L,respectively,which were significantly higher than controls.Patients were divided into three groups according to DAS28,low disease activity group, moderate disease activity group and high disease activity group. The differences of TRAF1 levels in these three groups were significant (F=6.382,P=0.003).We also found that the numercal DAS28 had a significant positive correlation with T RAF 1 level (r=0.419,P<0.001).Correlation analysis showed that serum levels of TRAF1 were positively associated with RF (r=0.365,P=0.001),GPI(r=0.767,P<0.001) and CD40(r=0.465,P<0.001).Conclusion The serum level of TRAF 1 is significantly higher in RA patients and has a significant ly positive correlation with disease activity, autoantibody and CD40.
