Advance of frailty assessment tools

Abstract：There is accumulating evidence that frailty may become one of the world's most serious health issues.Frailty is a geriatric condition characterised by an increased vulnerability to external stressors.Frailty assessment is considered a very useful tool for risk stratification in the elderly.Fried's Frailty Phenotype is a popular and widespread measurement of frailty.We can use some clinical tests to standardize frailty phenotype,such as grip strength,step speed.Rockwood's frailty index is more sensitive in predicting the prognosis of patients.Because of so much items and long use time,frailty is used less in clirnic.There are more than ten kinds of assessment tools,which come from Fried's frailty phenotype and Rockwood's frailty index.These assessment tools can be divided into three kinds:self reporting tools,scoring tools and index tools,which can be used in different situations.
