Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of yam gruel on bifidobacterium in the gut and blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes,so as to provide new targets for the prevention of diabetes from the angle of the intestinal flora. Methods According to inclusion into and exclusion criteria,90 patients with type 2 diabetes were recruited in this clincal trail. They were randomly divided into trial group and control group(n=45).The control group received outpatient follow-up and health education, while those patients in the trial group received yam gruel for 12 weeks in addition to outpatient follow-up and health education.Respectively observe bifidobacterium in the gut and blood sugar of two groups after the intervention.Make statistical analysis by PP analysis and ITT analysis. Results The result of PP analysis and ITT analysis showed that the quantity ofbifidobacterium adolescentis and bifidobacterium infantis in the trial group was higher than that of control group(P<0.05).Meanwhile,trial group's fasting blood glucose and 2h postprandial blood after breakfast were lower than those of control group.Besides,Bifidobacterium ITT analysis showed that total amount of bacteria was in the trial grou.p higher than the control group, the difference being statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The study shows that Yam gruel can regulate the growth of intestinal bifidobacteria, reduce fasting glucose and blood sugar 2 hours after breakfast in patients with type 2 diabetes. The relationship between Bifidobacterium and blood sugar needs further study.
