Abstract:Good anchorage design and control are crucial for the success of orthodontic treatment.Micro-implants,due to their low cost, small size, flexible implantation positions and simple operation, have been widely used in clinical ortho-dontics.In the initial stage of micro-implantation,primarily the dense cortical bone provides mechanical interlocking fix-ation for the micro-implant to achieve initial stability, while during the implantation process, the micro-implant also ex-erts compressive forces on the surrounding cortical bone, inducing morphological and microstructural alterations, which may affect the stability of micro-implant in the end. Therefore, this article presents a comprehensive review of recent re-search progress on changes in surrounding cortical bone after micro-implantation,related influencing factors, and the im-pact of these changes on the stability of micro-implant.The objective is to provide guidance for the application of micro-implants in orthodontic clinical practice.
