Abstract:The success of oral implantation is closely re-lated to the integration of the implant and its surrounding soft tissues. With the wide application of implanting technology, postoperative complications have become increasingly appar-ent,among which peri-implantitis is the most common. The key strategy to prevent peri-implantitis is to modify the im-plant abutment in the transmucosal area in various forms. This article introduces the current surface modification strategies of titanium abutment in the transmucosal area of dental im-plants.By creating micro and nano surface structures,enhanc-ing surface hydroicity, changing chemical composition of the surface, and constructing bioactive coatings, the ability of soft tissue integration and the antibacterial ability can be im-proved to prevent potential infection risks. This article also proposes directions for future research on multifunctional sur-faces,aiming to construct a comprehensive multifunctional surface research framework to achieve soft tissue sealing in the transmucosal area of the implant and ensure the long-term stability of the implant.
