Abstract:Alveolar bone loss and bone insufficiency caused by inflammation, trauma, and tumors are important problems faced by oral clinical natural tooth preservation and implantation.Barrier membrane-based guided bone regenera-tion is currently the most commonly used strategy for the resto-ration of alveolar bone defects. However, the existing barrier membrane-related products generally have problems such as single structural design, insufficient function, and poor me-chanical properties. Therefore, the construction of new oral barrier membranes based on material engineering strategies to promote alveolar bone regeneration has been widely studied in recent years.According to the strategy of enhancing the func-tion of oral barrier membranes, this paper discusses the re-search status of traditional barrier membranes,component-modified barrier membranes, and structure-optimized barrier membranes, and finally looks forward to the future develop-ment of oral barrier membranes.
