Abstract：Dentofacial deformity is a deformity of the maxillofacial bones,and the patients have abnormalities in facial ap-pearance and oral function,which can adversely affect their quality of life and social activities.Orthognathic surgery is one of the main treatment methods for dentofacial deformities.Clinicians have paid more attention to the motives of pa-tients undergoing orthognathic surgery.This paper reviews the research methods,research results and related influencing factors on the motives of orthognathic surgery in patients with dentofacial deformities at home and abroad,aiming to pro-vide reference and help for clinical work.
