Abstract:The canalis sinuosus(CS)is a dense bone canal extending from the infraorbital nerve canal to the anterior part of the maxilla and contains the anterior superior alveolar nerve vessel bundle. This is an anatomical structure that is often neglected in clinical operation of the anterior maxilla.Inadvertent injury of the CS during operation will lead to persistent pain, sensory abnormality, bleeding, osseointegration damage and local infection. This paper focuses on the cone beam CT(CBCT)imaging and clinical study of CS,and reviews the anatomical characteristics of CS,the anatomical relationship between CS and adjacent structures, the surgical complications related to CS,and the management and prevention of CS injury,so as to provide theoretical reference for the identification of CS before surgery and taking effective preventive measures to reduce the complications of clinical operation of the anterior maxilla.
