Abstract:Grinding is a critical step in the clinical trial process of oral ceramic restorations but grinding can result in minor scratches on the surface of the restoration leading to an increased surface roughness that may increase bacterial adhesion and plaque accumulation and induce gingivitis and caries, and cause excessive wear on the jaw teeth. Therefore, for the oral ceramic restoration after grinding, its necessary to perform surface treatment--glazing or polishing, reducing its surface roughness and restoring its smooth surface. In this paper, the methods of surface treatment for oral ceramic restoration and its research progress are reviewed by searching and analyzing relevant literatures.
