Research progress in the association between Alzheimer's disease and periodontitis

Abstract：Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia associated with environmental factors.Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease that occurs in periodontal supporting tissues.Studies have found a close association between periodontitis and Alzheimer's disease,but the potential mechanism linking periodontitis with Alzheimer's disease is not fully clear.It might be that the inflammatory response and vascular changes are the two mediators of the disease,and the common risk factors promote the development of both diseases.The recent findings of the association between periodontitis and Alzheimer's disease were discussed in this paper.
