Classification of RAU and treatment for refractory RAU

Abstract：Recurrent aphthous ulcer (RAU)is a most common disease of oral mucosa and it is difficult to be treated.In this review,the classification of RAU and the treatment for refractory RAU were discussed.According to the literature and clinical data,RAU can be classified into two types:refractory and general RAU.The update of the currently used medicines in the treatment of refractory RAU,such as glucocorticoids,thalidomide,total glucosides of paeony,other immunomodulators,traditional Chinese medicine and so on,is summarized in order to provide help for clinicians.
