Research progress of theaflavins on prevention and treatment of oral disease

Abstract：Theaflavins(TFs)is a group of polyphenol pigments which include multiple hydroxyl or phenolic hydroxyl. TFs exhibits numerous health-related beneficial effects,such as antibacterial,antiviral,antioxidant and free radical-scaveng-ing activity. Thus TFs may have a potential application prospect in oral disease including caries,periodontitis,oral muco-sal disease and oral cancer. This review describes the recent research progress of theaflavins on prevention and treatment of oral disease.
