Abstract:Objective To investigate the inactivation effect of chemical disinfection methods on HIV on surfaces of den-tal impression and stone models. Methods The 2%acid glutaraldehyde solution and chlorine disinfectant solution were used to disinfect the silicone impressions and the stone models, respectively. Real-time PCR assay was used to evaluate the efficiency of disinfection. Results When both of the impressions and the models were disinfected(group C),the logarithm inactivation value of HIV was 5.12. When neither was disinfected(group D),the logarithm inactivation value of HIV was below 1.00. When only the impressions were disinfected(group A),the logarithm inactivation value of HIV was 3.28,while the logarithm inactivation value was 2.34 when only the models were disinfected(group B). Conclusion The chemical disinfection on dental impressions and models can effectively inactivate HIV on surfaces of stone models. Disinfection on the impressions or the models alone cannot inactivate HIV sufficiently.
