Autotransplantation of teeth:history and prospect

Abstract：Tooth autotransplantation has a history of only fifty years from its being recorded in the PubMed literature. It was developed and improved continuously. Now it has become a procedure with safety and predictability. Although it has not been a routine therapy for missing teeth nowadays,it really can help to preserve the continuity of the dental arch and the alveolar process and provide an acceptable aesthetic and phys-iological outcome with the development of technique and mate-rials.
