Abstract:Preeclampsia is a common complication of pregnancy with high maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, whose main clinical manifestataions are hypertension and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation. It is difficult to identify pregnant women at high risk of preeclampsia before it presents clinically. Both systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)and antiphospholipid syndrome(APS)put pregnancies at even high risk of preeclampsia.Understanding of the mechanisms through which SLE and APS contribute to preeclampsia helps to explain the high incidence rate of preeclampsia. To identify preeclampsia and thus give close monitoring and appropriate treatment to those at high risk of SLE and APS is of critical importance to improving maternal and fetal outcomes. The use of low dose aspirin as preeclampsia prevention in SLE and APS pregnancy may be the best choice by now.
