Abstract:Objective To evaluate the postoperative effect of applying titanized polypropylene lightweight mesh in modified total pelvic floor reconstruction in the treatment of severe pelvic organ prolapse (POP).Methods Eighteen cases of severe pelvic organ prolapse received modified total pelvic floor reconstruction surgery with titanized polypropylene lightweight mesh.Clinical parameters and complications during perioperative period and 12 months after surgery were analyzed. Results The mean operation time was (87.2± 17.8)minutes.The mean blood loss was (69.4±25.1)mL.About 64.7% (11/17) patients were able to micturate spontaneously in the next morning after surgery with postvoid residual volume less than 100 mL.No severe intra-operative complications or the rate of postoperative morbidity were recorded.Median post-operative hospital stay was (4.8± 1.3)days.The patients were followed up at mean 10.9 months (4-17months).The objective success rate of operation reached 100%,and 94.1% experienced satisfaction after surgery. No patients were found to have exposure of mesh or erosion after surgery, and stress urinary incontinence was observed in 5.6% (1/18) cases. Conclusion The application of titanized polypropylene lightweight mesh in modified total pelvic floor reconstruction has certain short-term effects in the treatment of severe anterior vaginal prolapse and uterine prolapse, with advantage of fewer mesh-related complications.
