Abstract:Objective To investigate the causes of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy and its effect on perinatal outcome. Methods Eighty-five cases of pregnancy with thrombocytopenia in Anhui Provincial Hospital from 2008 to 2014 were analyzed retrospectively, and 85 cases of pregnant women with normal platelet counts were selected as control in the same period. Results Among the pregnant patients with thrombocytopenia,69 cases (81.2%) were gestational thrombocytopenia (GT),including 58 cases of natural childbirth and 11 cases of cesarean section;l0 cases (11.7%)were idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP),including 3 cases of natural childbirth and 7 cases of cesarean section;6 cases (7.1%) were caused by other reasons, including 2 cases of natural childbirth and 4 cases of cesarean section. There were 4 cases (5.7%)of postpartum hemorrhage in GT group,4 cases (40%)in ITP group, and 2 cases(33.3%)in otherreason group. In the control group, there were 70 cases of natural childbirth and 15 cases of cesarean section;1 case had postpartum hemorrhage(1.2%).Conclusion The delivery mode of pregnancy with thrombocytopenia depends on the level of the blood platelet, the condition of the primary disease and the obstetric factors. The rate of cesarean section and postpartum hemorrhage will be increased in patients with severe thrombocytopenia.
