Analysis of maternal mortality in Chongqing from 2011 to 2015

Abstract:Objective TO analyze the causes of maternal death from 2011 to 2015 in Chongqing,in order to provide theoretical basis for making effective intervention measures.Methods The causes of maternal death were retrospectively analyzed according to the medical records of maternal death and the data of municipal death review.Results A total of 237 pregnant women died,and the rate of maternal mortality decreased to 15.30/105 in 2015 from 21.61/105 in 2011.The top three causes of maternal death during the five years were obstetric hemorrhage,pregnancy complicated with heart disease and hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy.The main influence factors of avoiding death were lack of knowledge and skill of medical and health institutions,individuals and families.Conclusion The maternal mortality rate of Chongqing is lower than the national average,but it also faces new challenges.Some comprehensive measures should be taken to further control and reduce the rate of maternal mortality,including strengthening high-risk pregnancy warning and grading management,improving the technology level of local medical staff,paying attention to multidisciplinary cooperation and enhancing publicity and education.
