Efficacy of FEV and FMEV regimen instead of FAV and FAEV regimen as primary treatment for gestational trophoblastic neoplasia

Abstract:Objective To analyze the feasibility of FEV and FMEV regimen instead of FAV and FAEV regimen,commonly used as primary treatment for gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN).Methods Between August 2015 and March 2016,lots of GTN patients were admired to Peking Union Medical College Hospital.Among them,there are 52 cases who received at least one cycle of FEV (12 cases),FAV (12 cases),FMEV (14 cases) or FAEV (14 cases) chemotherapy as primary treatment.The clinical data and outcome of these patients were retrospectively reviewed.The treatment efficacy and side effects of FEV and FAV regimen,FMEV and FAEV regimen were compared.Results Totally 11 and 12 cases achieved complete remission (CR) in FEV and FAV group,respectively (91.7% vs.100%,P=0.86).One and 0 case had drug-resistance in the two groups,respectively (8.3% vs.0,P=0.15).Two cases had severe side effects in FEV group,while no patients had intolerable toxicity in FAV group.Totally 11 and 13 cases achieved CR in FMEV and FAEV group,respectively (78.6% vs.92.9%,P=0.48).Three and l case had drug-resistance in FMEV and FAEV groups,respectively (21.4% vs.7.1%,P=0.28).Eight cases had severe side effects in FMEV group,while 3 cases in FAEV group.Conclusion FEV and FMEV regimens should be considered as the alternative to FAV and FAEV regimens in the primary treatment of GTN.
