Transperineal sonographic assessment of the cervix in third trimester pregnancy
Abstract:Objective The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical value of cervical maturity in third trimester e-valuated by transperineal sonography in cervical screening. Methods This was a prospective cohort study involving 534 participants (37-42 weeks'gestation) between November 2007 and October 2008 in Nanjing Gulou hospital of Nanjing U-niversity Medical College. Length of cervical canal , amount of cervical and other signs were determined by transperineal sonography in pregnant women to evaluate cervical maturity. Time in labor and the route of delivery in different cervical score woman were compared. Results Pregnant women vaginal delivery rate is 91. 15% in those cervical canal length were less than 25 mm. Pregnant women are impossible in labor in 24 hours if the length of cervical canal is less than 10mm. When the cervical funnel width were more than 20mm the predict sensitivity of 93. 75% and specificity of 86. 57%. Conclusion Evaluated cervical maturity through length of cervical canal and amount of cervical dilatation is important to predict time in labor and decide the route of delivery.
