A Survey on nutritional knowledge, attitude and practice in 410 cases of pregnant women
Abstract:Objective To investigate the levels of nutritional knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) and its influencing factors for pregnant women, so as to provide scientific evidence for developing nutrition education programs in the future. Methods A survey of nutrition KAP was carried out using a questionnaire among 410 pregnant women. Results Most subjects lacked a overall understanding of nutritional knowledge but they held a positive attitude towards nutrition. The intake for cereals product, vegetable, fruits and milk was adequate. However, the nutritive intake for special physiological requirement was not adequate, such as aquatic product, nut and animal internal organs. There were positive correlation a-mong knowlede, attitude and practice of nutrition. Education of pregnant women was the major contributing factor for their nutritional KAP levels. Conclusion It is suggested that more nutrition education should be implemented by taking acceptable measures for pregnant women and their families to promote the health of pregnant women and improve the obstetric quality.
