Abstract:Fetal surveillance is a method to assess the baby's well-being in the uterus by biophysical or hi-ochemical methods. Fetal surveillance includes ante-natal and intrapartum surveillance technique. Exam-ples of antenatal surveillance are fetal movement counting, non stress lest, contraction stress test, amui-otic fluid volume and/or biophysical profile and doppler artery waveform analysis, while intermittent auscultation, cardiotocography, fetal scalp stimulation test, fetal scalp blood sampling, fetal pulse oximetry and fetal electrocardiography are used for intrapartum surveillance. This review provides evidence-based assessment for all kinds of fetal health surveillance.
