Long-term home invasive ventilation management in children

Abstract:The benefits of home invasive ventilation are obvious,compared with hospital invasive ventilation.More and more evidence-based medical researches have verified the feasibility and safety of long-term home invasive ventilation.Children with chronic invasive ventilator dependence at home are a diverse group of children who may have one or more organ dysfunction,involving respiratory,nervous,digestive,cardiovascular,skeletal and endocrine system.This article will introduce 4 critical clinical questions related to long-term home invasive ventilation presented in the 2016 American Thoracic Society Clinical Practice Guideline,i.e.medical management mode,evaluation before discharge,training of the long-term home care-givers,and the instruments and equipment necessary for the treatment,and discuss each topic through combination with the relevant literature and actual situation in China.
