Bipolar disorder comorbidity among children with epilepsy
CHEN Qian
Abstract:Epilepsy and bipolar disorder are common and chronic episodic disorders of brain function. Both conditions share clinical features and possible underlying pathophysiology, such as their episodic nature and potential to run a chronic course, which is difficult for clinician to make a differential diagnosis. Both disorders show epidemiological links, share some genetic etiology, and have negative impact on the quality of life and the social prognosis,so the evaluation and management of comorbid bipolar disorders in children with epilepsy should be paid attention to.
