Abstract:Objective This study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of transcatheter closure for large atrial septal defect( ASD) by analyzing the treatment of 123 cases for ASD defined as ≥15mm in diameter. Methods A total of 123 patients with secondary ASD (54 male and 69 female), aged (9.11 ±4.75) years, weighting (33.09± 17.68)kg, were assessed with electrocardiogram ( ECG) , transthoracic echocardiography ( TTE) and X ray check before the procedure. Results In 123patients, ASD was successfully closed in 118 patients (95.9%) . ASD mean diameter was( 19.35±3.94) mm(15~34 mm). The diameter of these devices were (23.94±4.55) mm (18~40 mm). Pulmonary mean pressure: (20.69±5.90) mmHg , Qp/Qs(2.84±2.39):l .total pulmonary resistance (16.56±13.36)kPa·s/L. Of them, 117patients had single ASD,6 patients had multiple ASD, and 1 patient needed two devices. One case was complicated by WPW syndrome, and 1 by PS . Conclusion The transcatheter closure of large atrial septal defects with the ASD occluder device is safe and efficient, so long as the indications are in attention.
