Abstract:Ischemic stroke is characterized by high incidence, high disability rate, and high mortality rates. Its pathophysiological mechanisms involve multiple forms of cell death, including apoptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, and cuproptosis. These forms interacted with each other and collectively drive disease progression. This review systematically reviewed the characteristics and regulatory mechanisms of different cell death forms,as well as their roles in ischemic stroke. It also discussed the crosstalk among these forms and summarized research progress on pharmacological interventions targeting various forms of cell death modalities, aiming to provide a basis for identifying novel therapeutic targets and strategies for the treatment of ischemic stroke.
