Abstract:Unruptured intracranial aneurysms(UIA)are relatively common.Their rupture can result in high rates of mortality and disability.Small UIA,defined as those with the largest dimension less than 5 mm,account for approximately 90%of all UIA.Although multiple studies indicate a low annual rupture risk for small UIA,they nonetheless account for a considerable proportion of ruptured aneurysms.Assessing the rupture risk of small UIA and selecting safe and appropriate management strategies remain critical challenges in clinical practice. This article aimed to review recent advances in the rupture risk assessment and management of small UIA,and to provide insights for clinical decision-making.
