Abstract:In recent years, the incidence of acute ischemic stroke(AIS)among children and young adults has increased significantly. This condition is characterized by complex etiologies, high disability and mortality rates, and a high burden of disease.Endovascular treatment(EVT)has demonstrated remarkable clinical value in treating AIS with large vessel occlusion(AIS-LVO).Multiple studies indicated that EVT can significantly enhance outcomes of AIS-LVO and achieve high recanalization rates in children and young adults, and could potentially lead to a better prognosis compared to elderly patients. This article reviews the research progress on the etiology, pathological characteristics, current EVT status, and key influencing factors of prognosis in AIS-LVO in children and young adults.
