Abstract:Intracerebral hemorrhage and brain abscess are two distinct diseases, and clinical cases of intracerebral hemorrhage transforming into a brain abscess are extremely rare.Brain abscess carries high rates of mortality and disability.Due to the low positivity rate of etiological detection and culture for brain abscess, most cases are diagnosed and treated early based on medical history, clinical symptoms, and cerebrospinal fluid cytology.Streptococcus constellatus is an opportunistic pathogen, and cases of intracranial infection and brain abscess formation following conservative treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage are exceptionally uncommon. This article reports a case of hypertensive basal ganglia hemorrhage that transformed into a Streptococ-cus constellatus brain abscess after conservative treatment. The patient was successfully treated with sensitive antibiotics based on drug susceptibility testing combined with stereotactic puncture and drainage. This case suggests that when cerebral hematoma shows prolonged difficulty in absorption and significant edema, brain abscess should be suspected.Relevant examinations should be promptly completed to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment, thereby avoiding delays in management.
