Abstract:Glioma is the most common malignant intracranial tumor with a poor prognosis, primarily associated with the intraoperative difficulty in accurately delineating the boundary between glioma and normal brain tissue, leading to tumor res-idue and postoperative recurrence.Current techniques such as intraoperative navigation, intraoperative fluorescence imaging, and intraoperative MRI all have various limitations. The definitive detection of intracranial tumors still relies on postoperative patho-logical examination, failing to achieve rapid intraoperative detection.Raman spectroscopic imaging technology holds promise for realizing rapid intraoperative detection, thereby guiding tumor resection, reducing tumor residue, and offering new hope for glioma surgery.According to the cancer stem cell theory, glioma stem cells are considered the root cause of glioma recurrence.Raman spectroscopy can be used to study the metabolic characteristics and drug resistance mechanisms of glioma stem cells at different differentiation stages. This article reviews the principles of Raman spectroscopic imaging technology and its research progress in the field of glioma.
