Abstract:Prolactinoma is the most common functional pituitary adenoma, with dopamine receptor agonists being the first-line treatment. The most commonly used dopamine receptor agonists include bromocriptine and cabergoline.Cabergoline is a selective dopamine D2 receptor agonist that significantly inhibits prolactin secretion and reduces tumor volume. It is more ef-fective than bromocriptine and has fewer side effects, making it the most widely used dopamine receptor agonist globally.How-ever,as cabergoline has not yet been formally approved by the China National Medical Products Administration, bromocriptine remains the primary drug for treating pituitary prolactinomas in China, although the clinical use of cabergoline is gradually in-creasing.Therefore,this article reviews the mechanism of action, clinical efficacy, adverse reactions, and management strategies for drug resistance of cabergoline, providing a reference for its clinical application in the treatment of pituitary prolactinomas.
