Abstract:Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability, with ischemic stroke accounting for approximately 85%of cases. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR),as a reliable and easily accessible marker of immune response,is widely used in clinical practice.NLR reflects the linear dynamic relationship between innate(neutrophils)and adaptive cellular immune responses(lymphocytes)under pathological conditions. Both are activated after cerebral ischemia and play critical roles in the clearance of tissue debris and the resolution of inflammation.NLR is influenced by many factors, including age,diet,medica-tion,chronic diseases(such as coronary heart disease),and stroke. This article reviews the role of NLR in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke and its progress in clinical application, aiming to provide a reference for clinical practice.
