Abstract:Traumatic brain injury(TBI)is one of the leading causes of human mortality and disability.TBI induces neuronal death through direct damage and cascade responses mediated by cytokines, inflammatory mediators, and other factors.Early and accurate assessment of TBI severity and prognosis plays a critical role in adjusting clinical treatment strategies and improving outcomes.Currently, clinical evaluation of TBI primarily relies on the Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)and neuroimaging(e.g.,head CT,MRI).With advances in TBI research, numerous biomarkers are generated during the onset and progression of TBI.These biomarkers reflect distinct pathophysiological processes and exhibit higher specificity and sensitivity than neuroimaging.Investigating the mechanisms underlying the production and dynamics of these biomarkers may address limitations of traditional diagnostic methods, providing novel insights and evidence for TBI diagnosis and treatment. This article reviews recent advances in TBI-related biomarkers to inform clinical management.
