Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of intraoperative intermittent pneumatic compression(IPC)on early deep vein thrombosis(DVT)after meningioma surgery. Methods A total of 106 meningioma patients prospectively enrolled between October 2022 and December 2023 underwent craniotomy. They were randomized 1:1 into an observation group(n=53)and a control group(n=53).The control group received routine intraoperative care, while the observation group received additional IPC treatment during surgery.Bilateral lower-limb ultrasound was performed within 24 hours postoperatively to diagnose DVT.Results DVT occurred in 26 patients(24.53%)within 24 hours postoperatively, most commonly in the gastrocnemius vein(73.08%),followed by the peroneal vein(19.23%),posterior tibial vein(15.38%),popliteal vein(3.85%),and femoral vein(3.85%).Three cases(11.54%)involved two or more veins. The incidence of DVT within 7 days was significantly lower in the observation group(11.32%)than in the control group(37.74%,P=0.002).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that intraoperative IPC was a protective factor against DVT within 7 days after meningioma surgery(OR=0.147,95%CI 0.036~0.592,P=0.007).Conclusion Intraoperative IPC significantly reduces the risk of early DVT following craniotomy for meningioma and represents a safe and effective preventive approach.
