Abstract:Aneurysm clips,as mature commercialized medical devices, possess stable physical properties and biocompatibility. However, during surgeries, mechanical grinding and other physical methods are occasionally required to modify the blade length of aneurysm clips to achieve complete occlusion of the aneurysm neck while preserving the parent artery intact.Currently, there is a lack of objective evidence confirming whether intraoperative mechanical grinding of aneurysm clip blades using equipment like grinding drills affects therapeutic outcomes. This article reviews the impact of mechanical grinding on the physical performance and biocompatibility of aneurysm clips from perspectives including their developmental history and structural design.
