Abstract:Objective To investigate the safety and efficacy of endovascular treatment for intracranial artery dissection presenting with stroke symptoms. Methods The clinical data of 53 patients with stroke symptoms caused by intracranial artery dissection admitted between January 1,2017,and August 1,2024,were retrospectively analyzed.Among the 53 patients,19 underwent endovascular treatment(interventional group)and 34 received medication therapy(conservative group).Neurological function was assessed using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)at 24 hours post-treatment,and prognosis was evaluated using the modified Rankin Scale(mRS)at 90 days after symptom onset. Results NIHSS scores at 24 hours and mRS scores at 90 days were significantly lower in the interventional group than in the conservatively managed group(P<0.05).Subgroup analysis demonstrated that for both anterior and posterior circulation dissections, the interventional group showed significantly better NIHSS scores at 24 hours and mRS scores at 90 days compared to the conservatively managed group(P<0.05).Conclusion For intracranial artery dissection with stroke symptoms, endovascular treatment can effectively improve clinical ischemic stroke symptoms and short-term prognosis.
