Abstract:China has one of the highest incidence rates of stroke globally.Characterized by high mortality and disability rates, stroke imposes a substantial burden on patients'families and society.Neutrophils, the most abundant white blood cells in human peripheral circulation, serve as the primary defense against pathogenic microorganisms.Upon stimulation and activation, neutrophils generate neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs).NETs represent a crucial mechanism of neutrophil function, playing significant roles not only in infectious diseases but also in the pathological processes of numerous non-infectious conditions.Emerging evidence underscores the critical involvement of NETs in the initiation and progression of stroke. This article provides an overview of recent advances in understanding the role of NETs in stroke, aiming to offer insights for clinical practice.
