Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of ferredoxin 1(FDX1)in glioma and its clinical significance. Methods The gene expression data and corresponding clinical data of glioma were downloaded from the TCGA,CGGA,and Rembrandt databases for clinical characteristic and survival analyses. The potential biological functions of FDX1 in glioma were analyzed using the Cancer GSEA online website, and the correlation between FDX1 and tumor immune infiltration was analyzed using the Tumor Immune Estimation Resource(TIMER)online website. The expression differences of FDX1 in 10 glioma tissues and non-tumor brain tissues surgically resected from January 2023 to June 2023 were detected by immunohistochemical staining. Results The expression level of FDX1 in glioma was significantly higher than that in non-tumor brain tissues(P<0.05),and it was positively correlated with the pathological grade of glioma(P<0.05).The median survival time of glioma patients with high FDX1 expression was significantly shorter than that of patients with low FDX1 expression(P<0.05).The expression level of FDX1 was positively proportional to the infiltration degree of CD4+T cells, neutrophils, monocytes, natural killer cells, dendritic cells, and macrophages in glioma tissues(P<0.05).Conclusion The high expression of FDX1 in glioma is closely related to the malignancy, immune infiltration, and survival prognosis of patients. This indicates that FDX1 can serve as a biomarker for glioma.
