Abstract:Meningiomas are common primary tumors in the central nervous system. According to the histological criteria of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2016,the majority of meningiomas are benign (WHO grade Ⅰ),5%~7% are atypical meningiomas, and 3% are anaplastic meningiomas. Currently, meningiomas are mainly treated with follow-up observation and surgical treatment;for atypical and anaplastic meningiomas, adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be applied;skull base meningiomas often involve vascular and neural structures, resulting in high surgical difficulty;recurrent tumors are mainly treated with radiotherapy and reoperation. Targeted therapy based on tumor molecular characteristics such as gene mutations of NF2,SMO,TERT,TRAF7 and methylation profiles is under further investigation. This article introduces the current standard treatment methods based on international guidelines and the latest literature, and describes the new technologies developed for the treatment of complex meningiomas.
