Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression level of ubiquitin-specific protease 9X(USP9X)in glioma tissues and the survival prognosis of patients with brain gliomas. Methods The expression levels of USP9X were detected in glioma tissues obtained from 108 glioma patients who underwent surgery June 2016 to June 2018,and in normal brain tissues obtained from 25 patients with traumatic brain injury who underwent decompression in the same period by immunohistochemical staining. The high expression of USP9X was determined according to staining intensity score and positive cell proportion score ≥4.Follow-up ended in May 2023,and overall survival time was recorded. Results Of these 108 glioma patients,38 patinets were of WHO grade Ⅱ,46 of grade Ⅲ and 24 of grade Ⅳ.The high expression rates of USP9X in WHO grade Ⅳ gliomas(79.17%),grade Ⅲ gliomas(58.69%)and grade Ⅱ gliomas(39.47%)were significantly higher than that(24.00%)in normal brain tissues(P<0.05),and the higher the WHO grade, the higher the USP9X high expression rate was(P<0.05).During follow-up,8 patients were lost to follow-up and 68 died(51 in the high expression group and 17 in the low expression group).Multivariate Cox proportional regression risk model analysis showed that high USP9X expression was an independent risk factor for poor survival prognosis of glioma patients(OR=2.173;95%CI 1.412~5.572;P<0.001),and survival curve analysis showed that the median overall survival of patients with high USP9X expression was significantly shorter than that of patients with low expression(P<0.05).Conclusions The USP9X is highly expressed in brain glioma tissues, which is associated with poor survival prognoses of glioma patients.
