Abstract:Objective To investigate the surgical technique of transnasal neuroendoscopic repair of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhinorrhea. Methods Of 51 patients with CSF rhinorrhea, 47 suffered from CSF rhinorrhea induced by traumatic brain injury, 3 from spontaneous CSF rhinorrhea and 1 from postoperative CSF rhinorrhea. The diagnosis of CSF rhinorrhea was made according to clinical manifestation, laboratory test, skull base CT and cisternography. Autologous fat, muscles and artificial meninges were used to plug up the skull base defect. Results Of 51 patients, 49 were cured by transnasal neuroendoscopic repair, and 2 who still had CSF rhinorrhea complicated with persistent intracranial infection after the surgery were cured by conservative treatment. Conclusion The effect of trasnsnal neuroendoscopic repair on CSF rhinorrhea is good.
